Former PCAOB Official Joins CAQ

The Center for Audit Quality has named Mary Moore Hamrick as director of external relations and strategic planning.

Hamrick is the former director of the office of external relations at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, where she directed the PCAOB's government relations and public affairs functions.

"Mary Moore is a savvy and strategic public policy expert who will guide the CAQ's communication and partnership with stakeholders interested in audit quality," said CAQ executive director Cindy Fornelli in a statement. "Her wealth of experience, combined with a unique understanding of the public company auditing profession, will benefit us in countless ways as we work to serve investors and other capital market participants."

Hamrick joined the PCAOB in July 2003 after nine years with New York Life Insurance Co., where she was a vice president, heading the company's Washington, D.C., governmental affairs office. While with New York Life, she served a term as chairman of the American Council of Life Insurers' Federal Legislative Strategy Group. Previously, she was counsel to the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce from 1990 to 1994, dealing with insurance and product safety issues.
