Former Texaco Comptroller Named to FASB

Norwalk, Conn. (July 15, 2003) -- Former Texaco Inc. comptroller George Batavick has been picked to serve as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board for the next five years, the Financial Accounting Foundation announced Monday.

Batavick succeeds former Compaq Computer Corp. VP and treasurer John Foster. During his 27-year career at Texaco, Batavick had company-wide responsibility for strategy and policy, covering all aspects of accounting and financial reporting.

Prior to joining Texaco Batavick, a CPA, worked with Getty Oil Co. and Arthur Andersen.

“Given the complexity of the financial reporting in the marketplace, [Batavick’s] broad accounting experience at one of the world’s leading companies will bring an important perspective to the Board," said FAF chairman Manuel Johnson.”
