France's Collomb Named IASC Foundation Trustee

London (Jan. 28, 2004) -- Bertrand Collomb has been named a trustee of the International Accounting Standards Committee Foundation, the oversight body of the International Accounting Standards Board.

Collomb, chairman of the French building materials company Lafarge, fills a vacancy left by the departure of Didier Pineau-Valencienne, whose term ended on Dec. 31. Collomb is currently chairman of Association Française des Entreprises Privées (AFEP). He also serves as a director of Total, ATCO and Vivendi Universal, and is a member of the supervisory board of Allianz and the advisory board of Unilever.

“We are delighted to welcome Bertrand Collomb to the trustees of the IASC Foundation,” said Paul A. Volcker, chairman of the IASC Foundation. “This year is a critical one in the development of both the IASC Foundation and the IASB.”

Noting that the IASB is completing a platform of international accounting standards for adoption in 2005, Volcker added, “The continued participation of the highest levels of the French business community is essential to ensuring the demand for high-quality global accounting standards is met.”
