Chicago (June 4, 2002) -- Grant Thornton LLP today announced that it has acquired the Arthur Andersen offices in Charlotte and Greensboro, N.C., and Columbia, S.C."Andersen's Carolinas practice was built upon its expertise with mid-sized and privately held firms - and we found Grant Thornton's approach to be right in line with ours," said Mike McGuire, Carolinas Managing Partner.
Nineteen Arthur Andersen partners and principals and an additional 161 employees have joined Grant Thornton. The existing Grant Thornton office in Charlotte will combine with the former Andersen Carolinas practice, boosting the firm’s staff to 22 partners and principals and 215 total employees.
Grant Thornton has 47 offices in the United States, and in more than 650 offices in 109 countries through Grant Thornton International.
