GT Names Federal Tax Head

Washington (March 29, 2004) — National firm Grant Thornton named tax veteran Mel Schwartz as federal tax director at the firm’s national tax office here.

Schwartz, a 20-year veteran of federal income tax issues, spent six years with the Joint Committee on Taxation, where he provided analysis and technical assistance to the Senate Finance and House Ways and Means Committees.

In addition to monitoring tax legislation for Grant Thornton, Schwartz will oversee individual and Subchapter S tax issues, depreciation, and the individual and corporate alternative minimum tax.
