Gumbiner Savett Managing Director Steps Down

After serving as managing director of Gumbiner Savett Inc. for nearly a decade, Michael Savoy has decided to step down from his position as the head of the leadership team of the  Santa Monica-based firm and will be replaced by Rick Parent.

“I have been blessed with the opportunity to run this firm and to help develop young talent for 10 years and it is a good time for a change,” Savoy said in a statement Wednesday. “Change is good, and in an effort to move the firm to a higher level, it is time for the next generation of leaders to take charge. I look forward to the future of this organization with great anticipation.”

Savoy has been with the firm for over 20 years and will assume a role as a full-time client service partner, using his tax and accounting skills of over 40 years with middle-market companies and individuals.

Rick Parent will now fill the position of managing director at the firm. Parent has been with the firm for 10 years, and has served as the leader of the firm’s accounting and audit department as well as the co-leader of the firm’s real-estate group. “I am honored to take on the role of managing director of the firm,” said Parent. “Michael has led the firm through much growth and change, and I plan to continue to move the firm along a forward trajectory.”

Parent specializes in audits and financial reporting for private and publicly held companies, working closely with chief executives and chief financial officers.  Prior to becoming a CPA, Parent was a chief financial officer having worked for both private and publicly-held companies.
