Have Confidence

About a year and a half ago, our editorial team was involved in the annual ritual of envisioning new products that our sales team could potentially take to market and, hopefully, attract several interested sponsors.

And we came up with this crazy idea.

What if there was a way to accurately fashion an economic confidence index specifically for accountants? Sure there were myriad indexes spanning a number of professions and markets, but none designed and weighted specifically for the accounting profession.

They, after all, have their collective fingers on the economic condition of their client base and, as their trusted advisors, often morph more into psychologists when their sales and revenues head south - as they undoubtedly have over the past several years. So they know a thing or two about confidence, or in many cases, a lack thereof.

And thus, the Accountants Confidence Index was born, which will make its debut in our September print edition.

But like any fledgling project that has a lot of potential bandwidth, we need help.

Your help.

As readers of Accounting Today, we invite you to join our Executive Research Council, a new community comprising decision-makers in public accounting. As part of the council, you will have the opportunity to share industry knowledge on product developments, practice management strategies and technology issues via web surveys.

Your contributions to the council will help guide the editorial direction of Accounting Today as well as provide invaluable feedback to industry product and service providers.

And for those wondering, "What's in it for me?" in return, council research members receive timely and actionable survey data on your business as well as automatic entry into periodic giveaways of iPad2s, gift cards, CPE courses and complimentary admission to our second annual Growth & Profitability Summit in October.

To become part of the ERC, visit: www.research.accountingtoday.com/welcome. Or go to our Facebook page to access the link.

We have confidence in you.
