ICAS Taps Hudson as CEO

Edinburgh, Scotland (Sept. 14, 2004) — The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland appointed Des Hudson as chief executive and secretary of the 15,500-member group, based here.

His appointment is effective Sept. 15.

In his new role, Hudson will be charged with implementing ICAS’s new strategy, "Fast Forward to 2010.”

A law graduate of the University of Leeds in 1977, Hudson worked in private practice  until 1987 before becoming a partner in a North West England law firm. He has held posts with the Yorkshire Building Society, the Britannia Building Society and the Scottish Media Group, where he served as chief executive of their publishing division.

"Des is an experienced board-level manager who has the necessary credentials for what is an extremely challenging role,” said ICAS president Ian Robertson. “His experience of major change programs will be relevant as the institute enters the final phases of the implementation process of its new strategy."
