ICPAS announces 2021 academic scholarship recipients

The Illinois CPA Society has awarded $104,500 in scholarships to 55 local accounting students as part of its annual Accounting Scholarship Program.

Funded by the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois, the Accounting Scholarship Program supports local accounting students at universities and colleges who "demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership qualities, and financial need." All scholarship funds are provided by more than 1,000 donors who support the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois.

New this year, ICPAS awarded eight scholarships to racial and ethnic minority high school seniors who have committed to majoring in accounting this fall. The new scholarships aim to attract more diverse accounting students to the profession.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to help this impressive group of students, who are determined to succeed as future leaders in the accounting profession, overcome their financial barriers and achieve their academic and career goals,” said Todd Shapiro, ICPAS president and CEO, in a statement.
