IFAC Seeks Noms for '08 Board, Committee Members

The International Federation of Accountants is seeking nominations for members of its boards and committees in 2008.

IFAC member bodies, members of the Forum of Firms (the organization of international firms that perform audits of financial statements that may be used across national borders) and, in some instances, members of the public, can nominate candidates until April 15.

A total of four public member positions are open on IFAC's independent standard-setting boards. Two members are sought for the International Accounting Education Standards Board, while single slots are open on both the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants and the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board. Individuals, organizations, firms, and IFAC member and regional bodies can submit nominations.

IFAC member bodies may also nominate additional candidates for membership on the federation’s board, all independent standards-setting boards, the Compliance Advisory Panel, the Developing Nations Committee, the Professional Accountants in Business Committee, the Small and Medium Practices Committee and the Nominating Committee.

Finally, a handful of positions on the Public Interest Activity Committees are open to nominations from members of the Forum of Firms. Two positions are open on the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, another couple of positions are open on the International Accounting Education Standards Board and a final position is open on the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants.

The federation’s complete call for nominations is available online, at www.ifac.org. All nominations must be submitted using the group’s online system, which can be accessed at http://nominations.ifac.org.
