The Institute of Internal Auditors has begun publishing a series of reports under the title, “Global Perspectives and Insights,” to provide thought leadership on issues of interest to audit practitioners.

The initial report, “Global Perspectives and Insights: Grappling with Geopolitics,” is available in English, French, Indonesian and Spanish. It examines how global risks can have a lingering effect regionally and locally. The report discusses how fluctuations in oil prices can disrupt seemingly unrelated business functions and how internal auditors can help their organizations cope with risks stemming from events such as wars and geopolitical conflicts.

“This new thought leadership series offers insight and direction on key issues, with perspectives that know no national or regional boundaries,” said IIA president and CEO Richard F. Chambers in a statement. “I’m confident that Global Perspectives and Insights will help collaboration and sharing of ideas among our members for the betterment of all their stakeholders.”

The IIA promises upcoming reports in the series will provide timely, insightful articles on geopolitical and economic issues, serving as a call to action for internal auditors to provide foresight and assurance in the strategic planning and monitoring process.
