Illinois CPA Society holds annual 'Jumpstart' program

The Illinois CPA Society hosted more than 170 accounting and finance students from local colleges and universities on April 26, 2019, for its annual Jumpstart to Accounting program.

Held in Chicago, the annual event provides students with career advice and professional networking opportunities before they begin their careers. The one-day program included meetings with career coaches and recruiters, tours of local accounting firms, and workshops on managing online profiles. Attendees also met up with young professionals to discuss what they can expect in their first jobs out of college.

“It’s very exciting to see so many students taking advantage of this great opportunity designed to prepare them for bright futures,” stated Illinois CPA Society president and CEO Todd Shapiro. “The valuable takeaways from this program help students prepare and stand out when it comes to competing for entry-level accounting positions and internships.”
