M'SOFT UNVEILS MONEY PLUS

In an effort to target consumers, entrepreneurs and small businesses, Microsoft has unveiled Microsoft Money Plus, an out-of-the-box personal financial software product.

Tagged as a direct competitor to Intuit's consumer and business product line, Quicken 2008, Microsoft Money Plus is the new version of Microsoft Money 2007. The new offering features a dashboard tool called "Insights" that alerts people when bills are due soon or overdue, and keeps track of spending and deposits, as well as account balances.

There are four versions: Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe, which allows a "quick glance" at financial data on a user's desktop; Money Plus Premium, which offers the same as the Deluxe offering but adds tools to help users plan for retirement and other long-term financial goals; Money Plus Home & Business, which provides tools that guide users through business taxes, inventory tracking and online payroll, along with the management of their personal finances; and a lower-end offering, Money Essentials, a system that consolidates personal banking, credit and investment accounts.

All versions are available now for PCs with Windows XP or Windows Vista. Pricing is as follows: Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe, $49.99; Plus Premium, $79.99; Home & Business, $89.99; and Essentials, $19.99. For more information or to download a version, visit www.microsoft.com/money.
