CALVERT GIVING FUND DIVESTS DARFUR INTERESTSIn a break with donor-advised funds sponsored by other national financial services firms, the Calvert Foundation said that its Calvert Giving Fund is now fully divested from companies affiliated with the Sudanese government. The Calvert Giving Fund is administered by the Calvert Foundation.
“In time for the 2007 giving season, the Calvert Foundation is very pleased to announce that our investment platform does not support companies contributing revenue or capabilities to the government responsible for the humanitarian crisis in Darfur,” said Timothy Freundlich, the foundation’s director of strategic initiatives. Freundlich conceived and launched the Calvert Giving Fund in 2001.
