Intuit Trims Consumer Group Workforce

Intuit has laid off 226 employees from its Consumer Group, which includes TurboTax, many of them in the San Diego area.

The company gave workers two months’ notice on Monday, so their jobs don’t officially end until September.

“The reductions in workforce reflect necessary steps in those strategic areas in an effort to provide growth opportunities and build a stronger foundation for the future of Intuit,” according to an Intuit spokesperson who declined to give further details.

Intuit currently employs fewer than 1,000 workers at its San Diego campus, but typically hires more workers during tax season.
