IRS Awards Westlaw $25M Contract

Eagan, Minn. (Dec. 22, 2003) -- The Internal Revenue Service has awarded Westlaw a five-year, $25 million contract to be the primary supplier of the agency’s electronic research.

Under the contract, which begins Jan. 1, 2004, the IRS will receive information through Westlaw from Thomson businesses that include RIA, Warren Gorham & Lamont and Dialog. The contract also includes access to analysis of tax issues from the Bureau of National Affairs.

RIA's tax products, under the RIA and WG&L brands, include Federal Tax Coordinator 2d, United States Tax Reporter, Citator 2d, Journal of Taxation, and Federal Income Taxation of Corporations and Shareholders by Bittker and Eustice.

“We are pleased that the IRS has selected Westlaw and its comprehensive collection of RIA content as their primary source for tax research content,” said Peter Warwick, president and CEO of Thomson Tax & Accounting.

West was formed when West Publishing and Thomson Legal Publishing merged in June 1996.
