IRS Employee Charged with Embezzling over $100,000

An IRS employee in the U.S. Virgin Islands and her husband have been charged with filing 32 false federal tax returns using the names of friends and family members.

Colette and Jerry Browne have been charged with embezzlement, fraud and identity theft, according to the Associated Press. The scheme allegedly started in 2003 and continued for three years.

The husband and wife were both arrested Monday. A hearing has been scheduled for March 18.
