IRS to Shut Down e-Services Temporarily

The Internal Revenue Service said its e-Services online tools will be out of service the last weekend in June.

The disruption will last from 8:00 pm EDT on Friday, June 27, to 6:00 am on Monday, June 30. The IRS will use the time to upgrade critical software and perform required maintenance. During this period, the e-Services registration, taxpayer identification matching, e-File application, transcript delivery system, disclosure authorization, electronic account resolution and preparer tax identification functions will be unavailable.

IRS employees can provide transcript information from other systems, but it's recommended that all users hold their requests until the system returns to full operation early Monday morning.

The National Conference of CPA Practitioners recommends that tax preparers plan their needs for e-Services over the next two weeks before the planned outage, or wait until e-Services resume early Monday morning.
