The Internal Revenue Service released IRS2Go 5.0, an update to the official IRS app that enables users to check refund status, watch the IRS YouTube cannel, find free tax preparation assistance, get IRS news, subscribe to filing season updates or tax tips, and follow the @IRSnews Twitter feed.
Available for both Apple and Android devices, users who downloaded past versions of IRS2Go can get the latest free version on iTunes or the Google Play store.
“The new version of IRS2Go provides taxpayers another way to quickly get information and help around the clock,” stated IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. “The IRS is focused on providing taxpayers with convenient self-service tools like IRS2Go, but it’s important to remind taxpayers to only use official IRS products to safeguard their personal information.”
The app features up-to-date information on users’ federal tax refund status and the nearest volunteer tax help site in the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs.
