Roseland, N.J. (Feb. 11, 2004) -- Top-ranked accounting firm J.H. Cohn LLP is expanding its Long Island presence with the merger of Great Neck, N.Y.-based Levine, Levine & Meyrowitz into its fold.

LLM, with two partners and 12 employees, specializes in serving closely held businesses, employee benefit plans, real estate, and financial services and professional services firms, as well as condominiums and cooperatives.

J.H. Cohn, which last year established an office in Garden City, will consolidate its Long Island offices in Great Neck.

Chief executive Thomas Marino also announced that Richard J. Salute, the former head of Andersen Worldwide’s Enterprise Group in the New York metropolitan area, has joined J.H. Cohn as partner-in-charge of its Long Island office and will lead the firm’s expansion in Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn and Queens. During his 30-year career with Andersen Worldwide, Salute established the firm’s New York Metro Enterprise Group, led its U.S. bankruptcy and corporate recovery practice and was a partner with the New York technology practice.

Earlier this month, J.H. Cohn entered into a joint venture with BBK LLP to form Cohn Real Estate LLC, a commercial real estate consulting firm.
