J.H. Cohn, Mason & Co. Announce Merger

New York (Jan. 2, 2003) -- New York-based Mason & Co. has merged with regional accounting powerhouse J.H. Cohn, the firm reported Thursday. In addition, BDO Seidman vice chairman Domenick Esposito has joined the firm as chief operating officer.

J.H.Cohn ranked number 26 on Accounting Today’s 2002 Top 100 Firms list with revenues of roughly $62 million. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The merger will be effective Feb. 1.

Mason & Co. will now operate as the Mason & Co. division of J.H. Cohn. The firm’s partners, Eli Mason, David Gotterer and Peter Fairley will continue to oversee M&C operations. The firm specializes in the music and entertainment fields. Eli Mason is also a frequent columnist for Accounting Today.

J.H. Cohn has 64 partners and some 400 employees
