Johnson Appointed NABA Executive Director

The National Association of Black Accountants named Gregory Johnson, CPA, as its new executive director after nearly a yearlong national search.

Johnson is director of quality control at Grant Thornton. Charlisa R. Watson, NABA's current interim executive director and COO, will resume her duties as chief administrative officer for the association when Johnson takes the job on Dec. 3.

Johnson will have overall management responsibility for staff operations at NABA's headquarters in Greenbelt, Md., and will oversee programs and policy activities adopted by NABA's board of directors, as well as work to expand membership in the association.

"As a professional organization, NABA has afforded me tremendous benefits, from networking opportunities to mentoring and coaching," said Johnson in a statement. "I've grown professionally as NABA has grown as an organization over the years."
