Kellas Named to Head IAASB

New York (Nov. 21, 2003) -- John Kellas, a partner in the London office of Big Four firm KPMG, was named chairman of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board by the International Federation of Accountants.

His three-year terms begins Jan. 1.

The IAASB is charged with establishing audit assurance quality control and services standards to ensure global accounting uniformity. At KPMG, Kellas serves as chair of the firm’s Assurance Technical Committee.

Earlier this month, IFAC’s Council approved reform proposals that will require oversight of the IAASB by an international Public Interest Oversight Board, to be appointed by international regulators.
