Kleinrock's UCG Acquires ATX Forms

Rockville, Md. (Aug. 8, 2002) -- UCG, a large provider of specialized business information, acquired ATX Forms Inc., a leading tax software company.

UCG said it would merge the 10-year-old ATX with its existing tax-research information division, Kleinrock Publishing, which UCG acquired in 1997.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under its proprietary brands MAX and Saber, ATX provides tax preparation software to more than 35,000 accounting firms and other tax preparers in the U.S.

Under its TaxExpert brand, Kleinrock publishes electronic tax-research libraries, print newsletters and reference manuals for 25,000 accounting and law firms.

Based in Caribou, Maine, and Ft. Pierce, Fla. ATX Forms was founded in 1992 and owned by brothers Glynn and Steve Willett. Glynn Willett agreed to stay on for roughly four years with UCG to oversee the company’s tax research and software business.
