KPMG Hires Kalavacherla as Partner

Prabhakar Kalavacherla has rejoined KPMG LLP as a partner in the audit quality and professional practice group in the firm’s San Francisco office. Kalavacherla, who joined KPMG in 1993 and left the firm as an audit partner in 2008, recently completed a five-year term on the International Accounting Standards Board.

Kalavacherla will focus on providing support to KPMG professionals and clients in the application of  International Financial Reporting Standards and forthcoming FASB standards on revenue recognition, leasing and financial instruments.

Prior to joining the IASB, Kalavacherla served as a lead Audit engagement partner, an SEC reviewing partner, and an IFRS reviewing partner in KPMG's San Francisco office. During 2001-2005, as a seconded partner to the U.S. GAAP practice in India, Kalavacherla helped a number of high-profile Indian companies become listed on U.S. stock exchanges.

In addition, he served in the U.S. firm’s Department of Professional Practice in New York and in the U.S. Capital Markets Group, based in London.

“We’re excited to have PK back with us at KPMG,” said KPMG’s audit vice chair Jim Liddy. “His experience at the IASB will allow us to enhance our clients’ understanding of and compliance with the vast array of changing global and U.S. regulation and financial reporting requirements.”

Kalavacherla earned a Master of Science degree in Accounting, with distinction, at California State University.
