KPMG’s Chairman Wins Corporate Responsibility Award

KPMG LLP and its chairman and CEO John Veihmeyer were recognized for their corporate responsibility leadership by Corporate Responsibility Magazine. The magazine tapped Veihmeyer as one of its “Responsible CEO of the Year” award recipients.

“Corporate responsibility is integral to our business, and a foundation of our values and success as a firm,” Veihmeyer said in a statement.  “This award is a testament to KPMG’s people, who make our firm what it is through their service to the communities in which we live and work.  Our people have dedicated countless hours to our corporate citizenship, diversity and inclusion, and environmental sustainability programs and initiatives.  I’m honored to accept this award on behalf of our people who do so much to bring that commitment to life and to be recognized alongside a group of leading CEOs and organizations that demonstrate a similar commitment.”

CR Magazine’s annual awards are presented to CEOs whose organizations exceed standards in the areas of employee relations, environmental impact, human rights, philanthropy, and corporate responsibility practices.  The 2013 award recipients will be honored at its Responsible CEO of the Year Awards Dinner taking place on Oct. 9 in New York.

Award recipients were nominated by members of the corporate responsibility community and selected by an independent judging panel comprised of previous recipients and other industry leaders. In determining the recipients, judges considered several dimensions of the aforementioned standards including: the scope of the CEO’s impact on their organization and community, the extent to which the CEO drove this initiative, and the individual reputation or professional risk taken by the CEO.
