LarsonAllen to Merge in Raymon Pielech Zexter

Massachusetts accounting firm Raymon Pielech Zexter PC will join Minneapolis-based accounting firm LarsonAllen, effective July 1.

“RPZ has built a strong tax practice over the years, and we’re very proud of that,” RPZ managing shareholder Jeff Raymon said in a statement. “But in today’s business and financial market, we need to offer our clients more to help them succeed and stay competitive. Joining with LarsonAllen will give us the capacity to serve the broader spectrum of their financial and advisory needs almost immediately.”

Raymon said that LarsonAllen’s additional service offerings and industry specialization will be attractive to RPZ’s clients. He cited international and multistate tax services, information technology, internal audit and control capabilities, and wealth advisory services, offered through LarsonAllen Financial LLC, as several benefits the combination brings to RPZ’s clients.

“It’s ideal that we can provide all of these additional services while remaining in our current South Coast locations,” he said.

The addition of RPZ’s New Bedford-based practice to LarsonAllen’s existing Boston operations, including RPZ’s 25 employees (nine of whom are CPAs), expands the firm’s presence in Massachusetts and places it among the top 20 CPA firms in the state.

“Growth always opens new doors, and we’re eager to make good on the excellent opportunities this deal presents,” said Doug Fiebelkorn, principal-in-charge of LarsonAllen’s Boston office.

Raymon also said that career growth opportunities for his employees within a national firm were among the deciding factors in electing to join with LarsonAllen. “Succession can be a challenge these days for a firm of our size,” he said. “We want to make sure that our clients and our own people will be taken care of for years to come while preserving the attentive service of a local firm on familiar terrain.”

RPZ has provided accounting, tax, and consulting services to small and midsized businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals since 1970. “LarsonAllen’s client mix, firm culture, and values match up extremely well with ours and will make this transition seamless and comfortable for our staff and clients,” said Raymon.

LarsonAllen is a national CPA firm with more than 300 principals, approximately 1,800 people, and more than 40 locations across the country. It ranked 18th on Accounting Today's 2011 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $227 million in annual revenue. The firm’s industry specializations include health care, nonprofit and government, manufacturing and distribution, banking and credit unions, construction, real estate, dealerships, and agriculture, among others.

“Bringing RPZ into the LarsonAllen brand has tremendous benefits for us,” said LarsonAllen executive principal Denny Schleper. “RPZ is known and respected in the South Coast area and will help solidify our presence in this broader Boston market. Their strong community ties and connections will enable us to continue to serve this region in new ways.”
