Virginia Beach, Va. (Feb. 23, 2004) -- It appears that this year’s tax season is off to a good start for Liberty Tax Service -- the company reported that its volume of returns prepared jumped 65 percent over last year.
The Virginia Beach-based company, which ranks as the third largest tax prep firm, said it prepared 65 percent more tax returns through Feb. 15th compared with the same time period last year. Same-store tax preparation volume increased by 29 percent.
Liberty’s office count jumped from 919 locations in the United States and Canada in 2003 to 1,409 in 2004.
The company also noted that the number of tax returns prepared in January 2003 grew 80 percent over January 2002. The number of tax returns prepared in existing offices was up 42 percent over the same time period in 2002.
