KSDT merges with Conn & Sharp

Details: Kabat, Schertzer, De La Torre, Taraboulos & Co. has merged with Homestead, Fla.-based Conn & Sharp PA. The combination went into effect on December 1. Conn & Sharp's team of six joined the KSDT Tax and Advisory Services Division, and founding partners John Conn and Christi Sharp are now partners at the firm.

 

NEW YORK

The Bonadio Group and Stulmaker, Kohn & Richardson merge

Details: Top 100 Firm The Bonadio Group and Stulmaker, Kohn & Richardson have finalized an arrangement to combine, and began to operate under the Bonadio name on December 1. The merger gave the Bonadio Group seven new employees, and two partners, which brought the Albany office up to 62 employees, and 490 staff across all of the firm's offices.

WeiserMazars merges with Resnick Druckman Group

Details: Top 100 Firm WeiserMazars LLP has merged with The Resnick Druckman Group LLC. Resnick Druckman's 33 employees, including seven partners and principals and three directors, joined WeiserMazars' Manhattan, Woodbury and Long Island offices. Goldenberg Consulting Group Inc. advised on the transaction, which has since closed.

 

OHIO

Moses & Associates joins Knueven, Schroeder & Co.

Details: Carl Moses of Moses & Associates agreed to merge his practice with Knueven, Schroeder & Co. Moses, who solidified the deal on December 1, has taken on the Knueven Schroeder name and now works out of its Findlay, Ohio, office. Knueven Schroeder provides services in accounting and auditing, tax preparation and planning, computer software services, and management advisory services, including financial planning; retirement programs; acquisitions and expansion studies; business valuations; and assistance in obtaining financing.

 

PENNSYLVANIA

BDO snaps up Alpern Rosenthal

Details: Top 10 Firm BDO USA has branched out into the Pittsburgh market with the acquisition of Top 100 Firm Alpern Rosenthal. Alpern Rosenthal comes with 250 partners and staff whose offices are also located in the Philadelphia and South Florida markets.

"I want to welcome all of the partners and staff of Alpern Rosenthal to BDO. Alpern Rosenthal's prominent position and deep community ties provide us with an ideal entry point into the Pittsburgh market," BDO's CEO Wayne Berson said in a statement. "Alpern's entrepreneurial culture, commitment to superior client service and work-life balance made them a natural cultural fit with BDO. Combined with other recent additions our firm has made in Anchorage, McLean, Minneapolis, Philadelphia and San Antonio, this is powerful evidence that our growth strategy is continuing to gain momentum around the country."

Berson has been on an "aggressive expansion program" since his term as CEO started on Nov. 1, 2012. The firm has announced several transactions in the last 14 months, including Mikunda, Cottrell & Co., Moquist Thorvilson Kaufmann and the banking practice of ParenteBeard in June. 

 

TEXAS

Nicholas Montgomery adds TravisWolff

Details: Nicholas Montgomery LLP and TravisWolff LLP have agreed to merge. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

The combination increased the staff of the two Dallas-based firms to more than 103, including six partners.

Nicholas Montgomery, which was founded in 1987 by Kenneth Nicholas and Samuel Montgomery, will take on the TravisWolff name and will move into the firm's Tollway Plaza and the Dallas North Tollway locations. Nicholas Montgomery provides audit, tax and consulting services.

TravisWolff was established in 1991 by Ken Travis and Ed Wolff. The firm provides assurance, tax, consulting services and a number of specialized services, including compensation and benefits planning, information technology auditing, employee benefit plan audits and forensic accounting.
