ILLINOIS

BKD and Wolf merge

Details: Top 100 Firm BKD LLP and Chicago-based accounting firm Wolf & Co. have agreed to merge. Wolf provides wealth management and personal financial planning to more than 2,000 clients from locations in Oakbrook Terrace and downtown Chicago.

Wolf managing partner Russell Romanelli will join BKD as managing partner of BKD Chicago, which will primarily serve clients from its Oakbrook Terrace office. BKD will have 34 offices in 15 states and $475 million in revenue.

 

Honkamp Krueger expands

Details: Top 100 Firm Honkamp Krueger & Co. has acquired the Geneseo, Ill.-based firm Crippen, Reid & Bowen LLC. "Since the opening of our Davenport branch in October of 2013, HK has been dedicated to growing our footprint in the robust Quad Cities market," HK managing partner Gregory Burbach said in a statement. Kenneth Bowen, former managing partner of Crippen, Reid & Bowen, joins HK as partner.

 

NEVADA

Eide Bailly merges in Muckel Anderson

Details: Muckel Anderson CPAs of Reno, Nev., has agreed to become part of Top 100 Firm Eide Bailly LLP. The new addition will give Eide Bailly a total of 25 offices in 12 states and increase its professional staff to approximately 1,470, which includes 214 partners.

The firm stated that this is the first Nevada location for Eide Bailly, and it will also create the first regional CPA firm in Reno. Butch Anderson, managing partner of Muckel Anderson, will take on the role of partner-in-charge for the office.

 

NEW YORK

Two Western New York CPA firms agree to merge

Details: Top 100 Firm Bonadio Group has finalized an arrangement to merge in Bevilacqua & Co. The deal closed on Nov. 1, 2014. The merger added seven employees, including two partners, for a total of 135 Bonadio employees in Western New York, and about 500 across the firm. The new Bonadio partners are John Bevilacqua and Susan Bevilacqua.

 

CondeBoyce bulks up in N.Y.

Details: The newly formed CondeBoyce LLP has acquired the tax and accounting practice of Louis M. Ambrico CPA PC. This acquisition positions CondeBoyce as one of the leading full-service accounting firms in the New York metropolitan area.

 

PENNSYLVANIA

RKL merges with Darkes, Peachey & Wilbert

Details: Top 100 Firm Reinsel Kuntz Lesher has merged in Darkes, Peachey & Wilbert. The merger continues to enhance RKL's presence in the Greater Capital Region and provides DPW clients access to a wider range of tax, accounting and business consulting capabilities. DPW's founding partner Bruce Darkes will join the firm as a partner in RKL's tax services group. In addition, RKL placed Jeremy Peachey and Karen Wilbert as managers in the firm's tax services group.

 

Friedman and ESBA pair up

Details: Top 100 Firm Friedman LLP will integrate Executive Sounding Board Associates LLC into the firm. The pairing of the business consulting, turnaround management, restructuring and crisis management practice firm will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2015. The integration will give Friedman a solid footprint in Pennsylvania and Maryland and will provide clients with full-service accounting, tax, advisory and restructuring services.

 

TEXAS

Whitley Penn and JonesBaggett to merge

Details: Top 100 Firm Whitley Penn agreed to merge with JonesBaggett LLP. Cecil Jones, managing partner of JonesBaggett, and the team will join the Dallas office of Whitley Penn. The addition of the JonesBaggett team expands Whitley Penn's financial institutions practice to include banks ranging in asset size from $60 million to $13 billion. Jones will serve as the firm's practice group leader for the Financial Institutions Industry Group.

 

Carr, Riggs & Ingram acquires a wealth management firm

Details: Top 100 Firm Carr, Riggs & Ingram LLC has acquired the wealth management firm Level Four Advisory Services. Level Four provides asset management, retirement planning, individual financial advisory services, and business/corporate advisory services. The Plano, Texas-based firm will operate as a division of Carr, Riggs & Ingram.

 

BKD expands in Dallas

Details: Top 15 Firm BKD LLP has expanded its presence in the Dallas market with the acquisition of loan review services firm Kacinski & Associates Inc. Kacinski provides loan review services to Texas financial institutions, primarily in the Dallas metro area. Its employees have joined BKD's Loan Review Services Division, which operates out of Houston, Indianapolis and Kansas City.
