CALIFORNIA

Macias Gini & O'Connell merges in Bernstein Fox

Details: California accounting firms Macias Gini & O'Connell and Bernstein, Fox, Whitman, Goldman & Baumblatt LLP have combined forces. The merger took effect Jan. 1.

Bernstein Fox will retain its name during a transitional period before becoming part of the MGO name and brand. It will continue to operate out of its current location in the Century City district of Los Angeles, to which MGO partner James Godsey will relocate. Employees at both businesses will be retained.

FLORIDA

CRI merges in Davis Monk

Details: Enterprise, Ala.-based Carr, Riggs & Ingram LLC has merged with Davis, Monk & Co., adding three offices in Gainesville, Palatka and St. Augustine, Fla., to its six existing Florida practices, giving it 14 offices in total, and 600 professionals across six states.

Financial details of the deal were not released.

ATLANTA

Waddell Smith scores two firms

Details: Waddell, Smith, Magoon & Freeman LLC has merged with Gruber & Co. PC and Pechter & Associates PC, both locally owned accounting firms. Roswell, Ga.-based Waddell Smith expects its revenues to swell by 40 percent with the mergers, from $5 million to $7 million, and its staff to increase from 35 to 50, including partners Burton Gruber and Marvin Pechter.

CHICAGO

Africk Chez joins LarsonAllen

Details: Minneapolis-based LarsonAllen has merged in Chicago-based accounting firm Africk Chez, giving it an office in the Windy City. Financial terms of the deal, which took effect Jan. 18, were not disclosed. Africk Chez was founded in 1996 and now includes approximately 30 people serving clients across the country.

ST. LOUIS

Sikich strikes again

Details: Aurora, Ill.-based Sikich LLP has agreed to combine with St. Louis-area CPA firm Stelmacki, Cochran & Sauerburger. Financial details of the merger were not disclosed.

SCS partners L. Michael Stelmacki, James M. Cochran, David P. Sauerburger and Richard F. Provaznik will join Sikich as partners, while the 19 employees of SCS will be joined by staff from Sikich's Earth City, Mo., technology office and operate as the St. Louis office of Sikich.

NEW JERSEY

Cullari Gallo combines with Carrico

Details: New Jersey accounting firm Cullari, Gallo, Soojian, Carraba LLC has merged with Carrico Associates PA. The two firms have combined their operations and relocated to an office in Wayne, N.J. The firms specialize in serving small businesses, individuals, not-for-profit organizations, public and private schools, and estates and trusts. The combined firm will be known as Cullari, Carrico, Soojian Burke LLC, or CCSB.

PHILADELPHIA

Weiser merges in Fishbein

Details: New York City-based Weiser LLP has merged in Philadelphia's Fishbein & Co. PC, adding eight Fishbein partners and 50 professionals. Operating under the Weiser name, Fishbein & Co. will remain at its current office in Horsham, Pa.

SOUTH CAROLINA

WebsterRogers acquires Finch Hallbick

Details: WebsterRogers has opened offices in Columbia, S.C., after acquiring the CPA practice of Finch, Hallbick & Co. WebsterRogers also has offices in Florence, Myrtle Beach, Georgetown, Litchfield, Charleston, Summerville and Sumter, S.C.

UTAH

CBIZ buys employee benefits firm

Details: Cleveland-based cbiz has acquired National Benefit Alliance, an employee benefits firm based in Midvale, Utah. The acquisition took effect Jan. 1, 2010. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but NBA earned approximately $2 million in revenue in the past 12 months.

Founded in 1998, NBA designs, implements and administers employee benefit plans for government contractors, as well as the traditional commercial market.
