Montana firms merge

Details: Helena-based Anderson ZurMuehlen & Co., a regional CPA and business advisory firm here, agreed to merge with Great Falls-based Hamilton Misfeldt & Co., effective July 1.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The union will add 20 CPAs and 40 employees to Anderson ZurMuehlen, and boost AZ's presence in the north central territory of Montana. In addition to its headquarters in Helena, the firm currently has offices in Bozeman, Billings, Missoula, and Butte, and a CPA in Whitefish.

Anderson ZurMuehlen generated $20 million in 2010 revenues.

KPMG acquires outsourcing consultant

Details: KPMG has acquired outsourcing advisory firm EquaTerra for an undisclosed sum. The deal will give KPMG the ability to create one of the broadest global sourcing and shared services advisory offerings across the Americas, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The acquisition will allow KPMG member firms to help clients manage large-scale, cross-border transformation efforts. EquaTerra provides advice on finance, accounting, HR, IT, procurement and other business processes.

 

VIRGINIA

Cherry Bekaert acquires Burrus Paul

Details: Cherry Bekaert & Holland has acquired the CPA firm Burrus Paul & Turnbull. The deal, which took effect February 1, will enable CB&H to expand its presence in the Hampton Roads area. The firm will be adding two partners and nine professionals. After the acquisition, CB&H will have nine partners and more than 80 professionals serving clients from offices in Virginia Beach, downtown Norfolk and Newport News.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Cherry Bekaert ranked No. 28 on Accounting Today's 2011 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $98.38 million in annual revenue.

With offices already established beyond Hampton Roads in Richmond, Tyson's Corner, Lynchburg and Roanoke, CB&H ranks among the largest non-Big Four accounting firms in Virginia with more than 235 professionals.
