LarsonAllen to merge in NCT Group

Details: LarsonAllen announced plans to combine with Florida CPA firm NCT Group in July, expanding the Minneapolis-based Top 100 Firm's presence in the Sunshine State and creating one of the state's largest government audit practices. Financial terms were not disclosed.

LarsonAllen approached NCT about two years ago, according to NCT managing partner Jay Gray. "Over the course of time, we got a real good feel for their culture and how they go about servicing clients," he said. "We were also impressed by the way they treat staff and employees." NCT has 64 staff, including nine partners, all of whom are expected to transition to LarsonAllen, with all three Florida offices remaining open.

NCT serves clients throughout Florida from its Lakeland-based location, and also has offices in Winter Haven and Sebring, Fla. LarsonAllen has several other offices in Florida already, in Tampa, Orlando, Boca Raton and Ybor City.

WTP acquires transfer pricing firm

Details: White Plains-based WTP Advisors has acquired the transfer pricing and international structuring business of Michael J. Flaherty LLC, which advises multinational companies on cross-border transactions. Under the terms of the acquisition, the new division will be named WTP Cross Border and will be led by Michael Flaherty, a transfer pricing lawyer with over 20 years' experience.

Flaherty noted that the U.S. has played an important role in developing global awareness and understanding of transfer pricing, and the rich history of U.S. experience in developing transfer pricing through case law and regulatory interpretation provides a deep well of experience from which WTP Cross Border will be able to draw, and puts it in a good position to offer a global approach.

Deloitte acquires business analytics developer

Details: Big Four firm Deloitte has purchased substantially all of the assets of Oco Inc., a developer of Software-as-a-Service business analytics systems. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Deloitte will now offer an extended set of hosted analytics applications designed to provide automated data updates, data integration, data warehouses, reporting, dashboards, data visualization, data discovery, and a user interface that can be configured to a client's needs. It will also be able to offer specialized solutions for mobile business analytics, benchmarking, and industry-specific analytic applications, along with dashboards, key performance indicators, reports and alerts.

 

PENNSYLVANIA

ParenteBeard expands in Pittsburgh

Details: Philadelphia-based ParenteBeard LLC and Pittsburgh-based McCrory & McDowell LLC announced that they will combine practices, effective June 1, expanding ParenteBeard's Pittsburgh presence, creating its largest single office.

Established in 1951, McCrory & McDowell brings 11 partners and 70 team members to the combined practice. Both firms provide audit, accounting, tax, and consulting services to large and small companies in a wide variety of industries. Additionally, McCrory & McDowell's Dewey & Kaye division, the region's largest nonprofit consulting group, provides specialized consulting services to nonprofit organizations. Founding partner Mike McDowell said that he expects the transition will be seamless, as both firms share the same values, culture and commitment to quality services.

Top 100 Firm ParenteBeard has 145 partners, with locations in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Texas.
