M&J Names Partner to Lead Nonprofit Group

McConnell & Jones LLP has appointed Jonathan Ellis as the leader of the firm’s Nonprofit and Governmental Audit Practice.

In his new role, Ellis will promote and direct assurance services for a wide array of governmental agencies and nonprofit groups, including specialized niches such as private foundations, religious institutions, community colleges, charter schools, community enrichment groups and organizations with single audit requirements.

With more than 12 years experience in various types of audits, Ellis has worked with nonprofit and governmental agencies of all types, including those in the health care market.  As a former audit practitioner in the Nonprofit and Healthcare Practices at Deloitte & Touche LLP, Ellis’s experience also includes identifying improvements in internal controls over financial reporting, enhancement of operating efficiencies, and regulatory compliance.

“Jonathan’s technical expertise, especially as it relates to the nonprofit health care institutions, enables us to greatly expand our capabilities and boost our capacity to provide the quality and depth of services our clients expect at McConnell & Jones,” said M&J managing partner Wayne McConnell in a statement.

“The addition of Jonathan to our team is one of the significant steps we’ve taken to strengthen our position in the nonprofit and government sectors as a leading, full-service CPA firm and a viable alternative to the “big-four,” said M&J tax services partner Thomas Jones.  “He is a perfect fit for our team and we look forward to him working with McConnell & Jones’ rapidly growing client base.”

Ellis, a graduate of Regis University in Denver, is a member of the AICPA and the Texas Society of CPAs. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his three kids, and playing several musical instruments such as the flute, oboe and clarinet.
