Top 100 firm Marcum LLP’s recruiting affiliate Marcum Search LLC has acquired JHill’s Staffing Service, a Los Angeles-based agency that focuses on hiring and temporary employment in the legal profession.

The deal takes effect immediately. JHill’s five employees will be based in Marcum’s Los Angeles office, where 30 other people now work for Marcum Search. Marcum Search also has offices in New York, Pennsylvania and Florida.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Marcum ranked 16th on Accounting Today’s 2017 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $449 million in annual revenue.

JHill’s president Jennifer Hill become president of the new Marcum Search division. She is a frequent speaker in the recruiting industry and the author of the book, “Stop Hoping, Start Hunting: A Job Seeker’s Guide to Finding a Dream Job.” Hill also writes a blog about recruiting called “Get Yourself the Job” and has a weekly show on LA Talk Radio. Hill and her firm are involved in many charitable activities and causes.

“In addition to their extensive expertise in the legal services arena, Jennifer Hill and the entire JHill’s team bring an exciting energy to Marcum Search that will be valuable as we continue to build our California presence,” said Marcum Search CEO Richard Paris in a statement. “Combining with Marcum Search presents tremendous synergies and partnership opportunities that will let us scale up in the legal services industry while also ramping up the ways we give back.”

In addition to setting up the staffing affiliate, Marcum has also been expanding its accounting firm in other specialty areas recently. Last June, Marcum merged in the construction accounting practice of Warren Hennagin in Irvine, Calif. In May, the firm merged in Meyers, Harrison & Pia LLC and Meyers, Harrison & Pia Valuation and Litigation Support, LLC, adding 55 partners and staff in New Haven, Connecticut, and Portland, Maine.
