Mayer Hoffman Buys Government Services Firm

Mayer Hoffman McCann PC has launched a new division called Conrad Government Services as a result of its acquisition of Irvine, Calif.-based firm, Conrad and Associates LLP.

Financial terms of the transaction weren't disclosed.

"This acquisition is a good fit between two quality firms," said Mayer Hoffman president Bill Hancock, in a statement. "[It] broadens our capabilities in an important geographic region and gives us added depth in providing attest services to the government sector."

Conrad and Associates has more than 35 years of experience in governmental audits and in recent years has specialized in audits of municipalities and government agencies. As part of the deal, the seven partners at Conrad and Associates were admitted to Mayer Hoffman as shareholders, and the acquired firm will continue to operate at its present location with a staff of 85. Ron Conrad, former managing partner of Conrad and Associates, will lead the new division.

The Conrad Government Services Division will be the second Mayer Hoffman office in Orange County. The first office, which opened in January 2005, focuses on commercial audits. Together with CBiz, a Cleveland national consulting firm closely associated with Mayer Hoffman McCann, Mayer Hoffman was ranked No. 10 on Accounting Today's 2005 list of Top 100 Firms, with revenues of $373 million.
