Mayer Hoffman McCann names new president

Mayer Hoffman McCann, a Top 10 Firm based in Cleveland, has appointed Andrew Gragnani as its new president, succeeding Andy Burczyk, who is retiring. In addition, Jeff Gluck has been elected chairman of the board.

Gragnani has been a shareholder at MHM for 13 years, serving on the MHM executive committee and as a regional attest practice leader for the past 12 years. Burczyk had led the firm since 2015, while Gluck has been a member of the MHM board for the past three years.

MHM, which has an alternative practice arrangement with publicly traded financial services company CBIZ, reported Thursday that it experienced 9% organic growth in 2021. The firm’s acquisition activity boosted that figure to 12.2%. Last September, CBIZ MHM acquired Shea Labagh Dobberstein, a firm in San Francisco, and last April it acquired Berntson Porter, a firm in Bellevue, Washington. More recently, last month it acquired Marks Paneth, a Top 50 Firm based in New York.

“We have had strong, sustainable growth the past few years, and we will continue to focus on our organic growth in tandem with focused efforts around completing further strategic acquisitions,” Gragnani said in a statement Thursday.

He said the firm would continue to focus on advancing audit quality, while enhancing its proprietary methodology and deployment of new technologies for team members and clients. “Technology continues to evolve, and we have a talented team that is monitoring, testing and implementing new tools as they become available,” he stated.

Both he and Gluck praised Burczyk for his service to the firm.

“I want to thank Andy for his leadership and friendship," Gragnani said. "I have learned a great deal from him, and look forward to continuing the strong legacy Andy and those before him have built.”

“We have experienced significant growth and quality enhancements during Andy’s tenure,” Gluck said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to build off that momentum under the strong leadership of Andrew Gragnani and the MHM team.”

MHM plans to continue to focus on diversity and inclusion efforts, ESG (environmental social and governance) reporting, innovation and strong practice management under its new leadership team.

“Our leadership team is already engaged and heavily involved in efforts with our strategic partners at CBIZ and Kreston to be the best we can be, both in terms of utilizing sound business practices, as well as hiring good people and serving as virtuous corporate citizens,” said Gragnani.
