Memphis Firm Acquires Local Competition

Accounting firm Cannon Wright Blount PLLC has purchased the Poulin Group PC, its second acquisition in less than four months.

Financial terms of the deal, which officially closed Dec. 1, were not disclosed.

It’s the second acquisition for Cannon Wright Blount this fall (the firm acquired a local firm specializing in tax services in September), and only the third merger since the firm was founded in 1994.

According to chief executive Jud Cannon, the deals are part of a strategic move to expand the company’s footprint in the marketplace. The combined 50-person staff will serve more than 2,500 clients.

Poulin Group employees, including partners Jon Poulin and Christine Ford, will move operations to Cannon Wright Blount’s office. Poulin, who will primarily work in the tax group at Cannon Wright Blount, said that while the transition will allow his team to take their business to the next level, personally, it will give him a chance to focus on practice development.

In late 2005, Cannon Wright Blount changed its name from Cannon Ivy PLLC and launched a re-branding campaign. More recently, the firm has begun to implement an aggressive business plan to grow its customer base, expand market reach and enhance client services.
