Microsoft to Lower Price of Office XP by 15 Percent

Redmond, Wash. (May 29, 2003) -- Microsoft announced Wednesday that it's dropping the price for its Office XP suite and individual programs by nearly 15 percent.

The XP sale comes as the software giant is gearing up to release its newest version, Microsoft Office System 2003, scheduled to debut later this year.

A Microsoft product manager told SiliconValley.com that the price reductions - aimed at consumers and small businesses - range from $80-$110, depending on the retailer and whether the purchase includes a suite or separate products. Microsoft added that it will offer support and training to businesses that signed multiyear contracts for software upgrades.
