The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy announced the release of its 2017 "Candidate Performance on the Uniform CPA Examination" publications this week. Available in both the "Jurisdiction" and "University" editions, the publications cover data and trends from all four testing windows of last year's Uniform CPA Examination.
Information for the publications was obtained via the Boards of Accountancy’s submission of candidate information into NASBA’s Gateway System.
The "Jurisdiction Edition" looks to cover global CPA Examination data. Among its findings, the Jurisdiction Edition found that Utah (61.79 percent), Wisconsin (57.60 percent) and Missouri (57.59 percent) had the highest passing rates on the exam last year. It also found that 95,654 candidates sat for the examination in 2017, with 71,199 new candidates and 25,834 candidates passing their fourth section.
The "University Edition" focuses on collegiate rankings on the examination, with additional metrics available on the international, national, regional, and state level. The "University Edition" found that the most students sitting for their first-time section in 2017 attended Baruch College CUNY (733), University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign (639) and Pennsylvania State University – University Park (455).
