Cheryl Farrar has taken on the role of chief information officer of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Previously, Farrar acted as interim chief technology officer to NASBA before her full-time appointment.

Farrar has more than 15 years of IT leadership experience in the areas of application systems development and maintenance, enterprise strategic sourcing, infrastructure management, and service provider management.

During her time as CTO consultant to NASBA, the Association progressed in the assessment and stabilization of its information technology organization and systems. Currently under Farrar’s leadership, NASBA is close to the final development stage of modernizing a major system to support NASBA’s CPA Examination Services division.

“We look forward to Cheryl Farrar introducing new and innovative ideas that will not only support NASBA’s information technology initiatives, but also the organization as a whole,” NASBA president and CEO Ken Bishop said in a statement.

Prior to NASBA, Farrar worked as an IT management consultant at The Kelso Group, a Nashville based technology management consulting firm.  Prior to joining The Kelso Group, Farrar was a senior vice president for Strategic Sourcing with Universal Music Group’s global IT organization.  Farrar was responsible for establishing the overall service provider and IT sourcing direction and management for the organization, and for providing leadership in the vision, planning, designing, implementation and maintenance of various critical information systems.

Farrar earned her Liberal Arts Associates degree from Pierce College and her Bachelors in Business Management and Administration from the University of Phoenix. Farrar is also the founder of the Spirit Oaks Ranch Equine Therapeutic Center, in Los Angeles and White Fawn Farm Equine Therapeutic Center in Nashville, Tenn.  Both centers specialize in providing equine therapeutic services to children with disabilities.
