NCCPAP offers discounts on tax prep to furloughed feds

The National Conference of CPA Practitioners is stepping up to help government employees dealing with the ongoing government shutdown.

NCCPAP announced that it will give any furloughed or unpaid critical federal employee “a significantly discounted fee” to have their 2018 return prepared by a participating NCCPAP CPA.

Federal employees must provide proof of employment.

Those affected by the shutdown should contact NCCPAP's headquarters at (516) 333-8282 to obtain the names of the three CPAs closest to their area who have volunteered to participate.

The offer applies to those employees who are on furlough or considered to be “unpaid critical,” and only during the period that the government is shut down.

The partial government shutdown entered its 20th day today as its impact is more widely felt with about 800,000 federal workers who will miss their paychecks on Friday.
