Aiming to service the enterprise resource planning needs of more global enterprises, NetSuite has partnered with independent data integration software provider Informatica to deliver a cloud computing option for companies looking to deploy two-tier ERP systems.
The partnership will essentially allow companies—particularly global enterprises that run on-premise ERP systems such as those from Oracle, SAP, and JD Edwards—to integrate them with NetSuite, also known as a two-tier ERP infrastructure. With this two-tier approach, the existing on-premise ERP system serves as the hub at the enterprise level and is augmented with NetSuite’s OneWorld product at the subsidiary or divisional level.
“We found as we move up market that more global CIOs are look at two-tier approach,” said Paul Turner, senior director of product marketing at NetSuite. “Look at any large enterprise running large, on-premise ERP systems but struggling to standardize across their divisions, and for many it’s cost prohibitive. Running NetSuite OneWorld, you can standardize on one single cloud ERP system and then integrate with corporate ERP through Informatica.”
NetSuite and Informatica are co-developing a connector in which NetSuite plugs into Informatica, takes NetSuite data, and integrates it with any large ERP system. Informatica enables the exchange of data from NetSuite, including invoices, purchase orders, item fulfillments and shipments, journal entries, inventory adjustments, time entries and expense reports, and customer, employee, product and accounting structure information.
“We put together a separate business division to focus on cloud services four years ago,” said Ron Papas, senior vice president and general manager of Informatica’s on-demand business unit. “Initially we wanted to create a bridge between cloud and on-premise products. The low-hanging fruit was CRM, but more and more we see cloud ERP gaining momentum. We now have over 400 partners, including systems integrators and ISVs. Effectively all those partners will be able to leverage their expertise.”
