N.J. Firm Merges with Pa. Practice

Six-person accounting firm Abo & Co. LLC of New Jersey has merged with the office of Morrisville, Pa.-based CPA Earl Sigmund. Both firms will operate under the Abo & Co. name.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sigmund said that the merger gives the clients of each firm more resources and makes the firm more convenient to potential clients in a larger geographic area. Sigmund's Morrisville office, with a staff of five people, is located about 30 miles north of Philadelphia, while the similarly sized Abo & Co. is about 15 miles west of the city.

Abo founder Martin Abo said that the combined firm will continue to specialize in accounting, tax, estate planning, forensic accounting and business consulting services.

"Earl's firm, like ours, tries to take a fresh look at your business and tax situation, instead of automatically fitting it into a particular category," said Abo, in a statement. "Instead of applying a standardized answer, we embrace the prospect of developing a plan that is as unique as a business' or individual's needs."

Sigmund also founded the New Business Learning Center in Morrisville in 1989 as an outgrowth of his accounting practice. The center offers education, strategic planning, financial advice and management consulting to start-up companies.
