The New Jersey Society of CPAs collected $38,057 in online monetary donations — its largest amount to date — for its twelfth annual food drive to benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
The drive ran from Sept. 27 through Nov. 19, collecting some 2,700 pounds of nonperishable food and canned goods to be donated. The NJCPA has donated more than 20,000 pounds of food items to the FoodBank since 2020.
“The food drive is such a tremendous opportunity to assist New Jerseyans in need. It’s wonderful to be part of such a giving community and my heart is full after such an amazing result this year,” said Nicole DeRosa, senior tax manager at Wiss and chairperson of the NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council, which hosted the food drive, in a statement.
“We are extremely appreciative of our members’ generosity and ability to volunteer their time and resources to this worthy cause. With COVID-19 challenges and other hardships this time of year, the food drive is particularly important,” said Ralph Albert Thomas, CEO and executive director of the NJCPA, in a statement.
