NYSSCPA to hold free 'Financial Planning Day' for public

The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) announced that they will hold a "Financial Planning Day" event on Friday, April 28, from 10 am - 5 pm, at the New York Public Library’s Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL).

The event will serve as part of NYSSCPA's "Get Money Smart" campaign, which looks to provide financial know-how to the general public. NYSSCPA members will be on hand to answer a range of financial questions, from taxes to investing, as well as holding seminars and distributing financial resources including the Society's 2016 Financial Fitness Kit and “Building Wealth, A Beginner’s Guide to Securing Your Financial Future.”

Alan Fishman, chair of the NYSSCPA’s Small Business Outreach Committee, will also be present to give his seminar, “Preparing Financial Information for Your Business Plan,” at 12:30 pm.

“Small businesses are vital for the economy of our local communities,” stated Fishman. “They provide consumers with competitive options when shopping for products and services and provide opportunities for employees that may not exist when applying for work at large companies. Business owners must be supported by active advisors to help them make the best business decisions. We all benefit when a small business succeeds.”

Additional NYSSCPA members to appear include:

  • Richard Chaffiotte
  • Benjamin Lehrhoff
  • Sheila Brandenberg
  • Samuel Katz
  • Steven Zelin
  • Sallie Mullins Thompson
  • Vincent Cosenza
  • Orume Hays
