Ohio to Begin Tax Amnesty Program

The Ohio Department of Taxation will begin accepting tax amnesty applications on Dec. 15.

From now until Feb. 15, 2006, eligible taxpayers can submit payments for qualifying unreported or underreported tax delinquencies with no penalties and one-half of the interest charges through the 2006 Ohio Tax Amnesty Program.

Delinquent taxpayers who choose to use amnesty will be required to make full payment of any balance due during the amnesty period. The department has launched a statewide marketing campaign including print, radio and television advertisements to inform taxpayers about the program.

Taxpayers who have been previously notified of a delinquency, been billed or assessed by the Department of Taxation, or are currently under audit by the department are not eligible for the program.

More information is available at www.taxamnestyohio.com, or by calling ( 800) 304-3211. Frequently asked questions, downloadable amnesty applications and tax forms are available at the Web site.
