Old Epicor CEO Replaces Short-Lived One

George Klaus, who served as president and CEO of Epicor Software from February 1996 to February 2008, has been named to those positions again, following the resignation of Thomas F. Kelly.

Kelly, previously a director of Epicor, had succeeded Klaus as president and CEO last year, with Klaus (below) remaining as the company's executive chairman. The company said Kelly, who has worked as a venture capitalist, is resigning to pursue other interests. Kelly also resigned from the Epicor board of directors, on which he had served since February 2000.

In his brief tenure, Kelly presided over the launch of Epicor 9, which he pictured as the most important Epicor product launch in years and one that would put it back in the enterprise resource planning software market. The product line had been heavily focused on manufacturing software until the last year. He was also in charge during the company's successful attempt to fend off a hostile tender offer from Elliott Associates, a hedge fund. That bid ended in December.
