Payroll and benefits outsourcing provider Paychex Inc. posted a 30-percent jump in second-quarter earnings, to $112.6 million versus the year-ago period.
Meanwhile, systemwide revenues for the company based here, rose 15 percent to $399.8 million, compared with the same period a year ago.

Paychex's second-quarter numbers were fueled by a 9 percent rise in payroll service revenue, to roughly $304 million, and a 26 percent spike in major market services revenue, to $53.4 million.

Paychex said that overall expenses dropped two percentage points versus the second quarter of last year, while operating income jumped 25 percent to $158.6 million.
