California

CRIC Capital LLC has named Travis Pacoe as Director of Acquisitions. Based in CRIC Capital’s San Francisco office, Pacoe joins the company’s experienced acquisitions team that includes Leo Schwartz in Greenwich, Conn. and Brian Johnson in Nashville, Tenn. Pacoe has been actively involved in various aspects of income-producing real estate for more than 10 years, including financing, development and acquisitions, with an emphasis on net leased investments.

Delaware

M. Cynthia Sublett, a director at Wheeler, Wolfenden & Dwares, Wilmington, has been re-appointed to the Tax Executive Committee of CPAmerica International, an international association of major independent CPA and consulting firms. Sublett will be instrumental in directing the network’s tax standards committee, which provides technical support to members in their tax practices and has responsibility and authority for all tax matters for the Association. Sublett is a member of the AICPA and the Delaware Society of CPAs.

Indiana

Dunbar, Cook & Shepard PC, Indianapolis, announced the promotion of Nicholas Dallas to director.

Illinois

Duane D. Suits, of Sikich Gardner & Co. LLP, Aurora, is the new chairperson of the Illinois Certified Public Accounting Society. Suits has served in various ICPAS leadership positions. He is also a member of the AICPA Council. Suits is a founding partner in the accounting and consulting firm of Sikich Gardner & Co. LLP. Based in the firm’s Aurora office, he serves on the assurance services committee and is in charge of quality control for the firm. É Jeff Rudolph, president of ICS Advantage LLC announced two members of the firm have earned advanced certification. Steve Wegner, solutions consultant, received the designation of Cisco Certified Design Associate and Neil Witek received the project manager professional designation. The Cisco certification awarded to Wegner recognizes professionals who have demonstrated the requisite skills for designing routed and switched networks involving local area network, wide area network and dial access services for businesses and organizations with networks of fewer than 500 nodes. Witek successfully passed a four-hour project management examination after documenting nearly 10,000 hours of direct experience to earn the PMP designation.

Iowa

Perkins, formerly with Riverside World, Iowa Falls, has joined Green Belt Bank & Trust, Iowa Falls, as controller and chief financial officer. Ronald W. Jones, Security National Corporation, Sioux City, has been promoted to vice president of commercial loans. Gregory J. Braun, formerly with EFCO, Des Moines, has joined Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, as chief financial officer. Michael A. Eversmeyer, Varied Investments Inc., Muscatine, has been promoted to assistant controller and tax manager.

Maryland

McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond, Baltimore, has announced a strategic partnership with Barbara L. Craig to provide business improvement solutions to Maryland companies. Craig will join the firm’s Frederick office as a business process consultant. She has over 20 years of consulting experience, including strategy development, operational process improvement and team development. She has successfully applied her experience to both frontline operations and to back-office tax departments. In addition to consulting, Craig has extensive experience in federal, multi-state and local tax planning and compliance, designing and tailoring employee benefits plans, performing diligence for mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and handling regulatory compliance for financial institutions.

Missouri

Schowalter & Jabouri PC, St. Louis, announced that Mei Chan has joined the firm as a manager. Chan is a member of the AICPA, the Missouri Society of CPAs and the Texas Society of CPAs.

New Jersey

Amper, Politziner & Mattia, Edison, announced that Linda Gibson joined the firm as a senior manager in the litigation and valuation group. North Carolina

Lewis K. Carr, of Thomas, Knight, Trent, King and Co. of Durham has earned the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer credential. Candidates for the MCSE credential are required to pass seven exams, which are designed to provide a reliable measure of technical proficiency in solution design and implementation. The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer credential is the highest level of certification for professionals who design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions that are based on Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Servers software.

Ohio

Jason Boone has joined Brady Ware, Dayton, as a team accountant. Jason came on board in January, 2002, and recently graduated with a bachelor’s of science in accounting and finance and a master’s in business administration from the University of Dayton. É Paul Lauzau, director of information technology consulting has been awarded the Certified Information Technology designation by the AICPA. The CITP designation is awarded to CPAs with significant experience in information technology strategic planning, implementation, management and business strategies for information systems. É Skoda, Minotti & Co., Mayfield Village, has added six new staff members. Frank C. Fini is a senior manager. He has over 10 years of tax and accounting experience. He recently earned his Series 7 License and became a registered representative. Rick Cruickshank is a senior accountant with Skoda, Minotti & Co. He has three years’ experience in public accounting. Finally, Dori Edmonds-Jones is a tax department and general office staff member. Pennsylvania

Parente Randolph, Wilkes-Barre, announced the addition of Martin Foley as a principal in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Prior to joining Parente Randolph, Foley spent 12 years with the Columbus, Ohio, Shanghai, China and Philadelphia, Penn. Offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. During his time at PwC, Foley provided a breadth of assurance and business advisory services to a variety of the firm’s clients, ranging from closely held companies to multi-national Fortune 100 companies. Foley also held a leadership position on the U.S. firm’s consumer packaged goods industry team and had management responsibility for various strategic initiatives implemented throughout mainland China. É Eric P. Wallace, a partner with Carbis Walker LLP, Pittsburgh, has been recognized as the Regional 2002 Accountant Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Wallace was selected the winner over other nominees from the Region III area which includes Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia and six district offices. A panel of leading economic development professionals assembled in Philadelphia selected the regional winners who were chosen because of their outstanding advocacy efforts to improve the climate for small businesses.

South Carolina

Debra A. Turner, a partner at WebsterRogers LLP, Florence, has been reappointed by the state’s governor, Jim Hodges, to a second term on the South Carolina Board of Accountancy. The new term will extend to June 30, 2005. Turner is the partner-in-charge of the firm’s Charleston office.

Tennessee

Pershing Yoakley & Associates, Knoxville, announced that Lewis Newberry has joined the firm as a manager in the consulting department. Prior to joining PY&A, Newberry was the administrator of ambulatory services and system development for Memorial Health University Medical System in Savannah, Ga. He also spent six years with Camcare Health System in West Virginia as director of financial services and director of planning and business development.

Virginia

As part of its annual Leadership Conference, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants honored eight Virginia CPAs for their dedication and service to the accounting profession and the Society. The Life Member Award recognizes those outstanding CPAs who have been members of the VSCPA for more than 40 continuous years. Life Members continue to receive all benefits extended to VSCPA members but are no longer required to pay annual dues. The newest Life Members include Ellis M. Dunkum, David L. Burke, Charles R. Beans, Howard L. Brantly, Donald R. Maxfield, William T. Powell, Sidney E. Sutherland and Norman J. Zwahlen. Also, the VSCPA announced its officers and board of directors for 2002-2003. The officers and directors were sworn in at the Society’s annual business meeting. Stephanie Saunders, partner with Saunders & Saunders PC, Virginia Beach, is the new chair; Richard P.
